WASHINGTON, December 12, 2023 – The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Romania of Javelin Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $80 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.
The Government of Romania has requested to buy two hundred sixty-three (263) Javelin FGM-148F Missiles; and twenty-six (26) Javelin Light Weight Command Launch Units (LWCLU). Also included are enhanced producibility basic skills trainers; missile simulation rounds; Security Assistance Management Directorate (SAMD) technical assistance; Tactical Air Ground Missiles (TAGM) Project Office technical assistance; other associated equipment and services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $80 million.
Racheta AT Javelin este intradevar una de tip portabil, nu este foarte usoara, impreuna cu CLU atinge 22 kg, iar racheta cu tot cu tub, dar fara CLU cantareste 16kg. Javelin poate ataca tinta pe traiectorie lobata (top-attack) si dupa lansare se auto-ghideaza spre tinta (fire-and-forget si functia lock-on-before-launch) raza rachetei fiind cuprinsa intre 65 si 4000 de metri.
Javelin este o coproductie intre Raytheon (LCU) si Lockheed Martin (racheta in sine, senzorul si asamblarea finala).
