    • Step forward : MESKO, part of the Polish Armaments Group, delivered to the Ministry of Defense the first batch of modernized 120mm HE ammunition for Leopard tanks. This is another step in the process of introducing modernized ammunition into the equipment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, in which the Military Armament Technical Institute was involved in addition to MESKO. Ultimate success is also the result of very good cooperation with the Ministry of Defense Armaments Inspectorate and the 3rd Regional Military Representative.

In the last year in MESKO a huge conceptual work was carried out connected with the necessity of developing a new propellant charge for 120 mm tank ammunition. It was forced by new requirements of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland in the area of improving security and efficiency. As a result of the modification of the structure, a solution has been developed that meets the high requirements posed by Polish armored personnel. The changes concerned the propellant charge. The structure was changed by introducing a modified ignition system, the geometry and the powder system were changed completely and a new type of gunpowder was introduced instead of black powder, thanks to which hydrogen sulfide was completely eliminated in the combustion products. A new type of propelling charge is introduced into the entire family of 120 mm tank ammunition.

In the near future before MESKO there is a new task, rebuilding the 125 mm tank ammunition. Armored Corps are planning modernization of owned T-72 and PT-91, so this type of ammunition will be needed. Certainly, the experience gained in the modernization of 120 mm ammunition will prove valuable in this task.

The delivery is the first scheduled for this year. In total, MESKO will provide several thousand of the same 120 mm ammunition. As soon as possible, the entire crew from Pionki was involved in the preparation of the first batch of modernized ammunition. The modernized construction of 120mm ammunition for Leopard tanks is based on a new propellant charge being the subject of a joint patent application of WITU and MESKO O / Pionki specialists and a new type of gunpowder that is the subject of patent application of Pionek team of technologists. Safer and more efficient products delivered from today by MESKO to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland is the result of a combination of experience represented by long-term employees and young technical staff employed in the company in recent years.
